Cindy Vener is an artist and freelance graphic designer. After 30 years in the corporate world as an actuary and researcher, she retired in 2009 to pursue her art full time.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, she has lived in Lynchburg, Virginia for over 35 years. She began painting twenty years ago as a hobby and it quickly became one of her passions. She has studied oil with Rosalie Day White and has attended the Summer Artists Program at Nimrod Hall, Bath County, VA, studying with Laura Loe, Sara Linda Poly, Andras Bality and Diego Sanchez. She has also studied painting at Sweet Briar College with John Morgan.
Cindy's artwork is inspired by local Virginia landscapes and from her travels. The Impressionists, Cindy's love of gardening and the joy of experimenting with a bold color palette influence her style. Whether in the studio or en plein air, the first thing that interests her is color. Colors and shapes constantly change throughout the seasons and she tries to capture that using texture, creating interest by layering color and the use of oil and cold wax medium or acrylic with various mediums.
